Job Description:
Overview
Venture Dynamics is seeking skilled and experienced Marine Riggers to support lifting, handling, and material-movement operations aboard Navy and commercial vessels, dry docks, and industrial marine facilities. Marine Riggers assemble and operate rigging gear, signal crane operations, relocate machinery and structural components, and maintain safe load control in confined shipboard environments. This role requires advanced rigging knowledge, strong situational awareness, and strict compliance with NAVSEA and OSHA Maritime standards.
Per diem may be available on select projects depending on contract requirements and travel distance.
Responsibilities

Plan and execute rigging operations for lifting, lowering, positioning, and relocating heavy components

Perform below-the-hook rigging using chain hoists, slings, shackles, and approved lifting gear

Route, drift, and maneuver loads through confined shipboard spaces using multi-point hoist setups

Inspect rigging gear for condition and rating compliance

Rig and signal for cranes, chain falls, come-alongs, hoists, and mechanical lifting equipment

Move pumps, motors, valves, structural components, and shipboard equipment

Support rigging operations in machinery spaces, tanks, voids, and engine-room environments

Read and interpret lift plans, drawings, and work instructions

Coordinate with welders, fitters, machinists, and supervisors during multi-trade lifts

Maintain tool control, housekeeping, and all required safety practices
Requirements
-
Minimum 5 years of marine, shipyard, or industrial rigging experience
-
Strong knowledge of load control, sling angles, center of gravity, and lift planning
-
Proficiency with chain falls, come-alongs, hoists, beam clamps, wire rope, chain slings, and synthetic slings

Ability to perform confined-space and tight-access rigging operations

Ability to read lift plans, drawings, and schematics

Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work at heights, in confined spaces, and around active crane operations

Must supply and maintain a rigging-appropriate tool set

Must pass background check and drug screening

Reliable transportation and consistent attendance

Ability to obtain DBIDS/base access when required

Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and variable shifts
Preferred Qualifications
-
NAVSEA ship-repair rigging experience
-
Experience with machinery moves, propulsion equipment, and large-equipment relocation

Familiarity with WAF/Tagout processes

OSHA-10 Maritime
-
Ability to wear a respirator when required

Familiarity with shipboard compartment numbering and layout
